On behalf of the Great Lake Walk Society, we would like to present an opportunity for your charity to use this walk as a means to generate revenue for your worthy cause.

The Great Lake Walk is a 56-kilometer ultra-marathon walk/run around beautiful Cowichan Lake, which is held on the third Saturday of September each year, this year being September 16. The weather is usually beautiful, and turnout, both in participation and volunteers, has numbered in the thousands. Since its inception four years ago the Great Lake Walk Society has been responsible for its walkers generating more than $300,000.00 in pledges for 208 charities and causes.

This year the Great Lake Walk Society is promoting our Team Program. Every sixth walker in a team will enter free of charge. In addition, each team of 6 or more will receive a lithograph limited edition print (valued at up to $200.00) from local artist Michaela Davidson, which may then be used to further generate funds for your charity. Each team application must include a team entry form, accompanied by individual entry forms for each entrant, along with the total entry fee for the team. The entrants are responsible for collecting pledges and submitting them to your charity. The Great Lake Walk Society is also offering this Team Program to corporations, with a view to encouraging them to enter a team in support of their charity. If your charity is affiliated in some respect with a corporation, the Great Lake Walk could be the perfect event to generate funds for your cause, saving you the time consuming organization of such an event. It is to this end that we feel we can be of considerable service to charities as well as corporations.

The entry fee covers the cost of twelve rest stops that provide food and refreshments, port-a-potties, medical assistance and moral support. Each walker/runner also receives a goody bag, a commemorative t-shirt, and a finish line prize.
