ABOUT THE WALK
Hundreds of volunteers dressed in bright yellow t-shirts host the Walkers/Runners in the annual Great Lake Walk.

On The Friday before the day of the Walk, from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M., volunteers check entrants in at the Youbou Hall and hand out the Goodie Bags and Walker t-shirts.

At precisely 5 A.M. on the day of the Walk, and after a rousing rendition of our National Anthem, the Walker/Runners head out from Youbou on the 56km trek around beautiful Cowichan Lake

Refreshments are offered at each of the twelve Rest Stops along the route as well as porta-potties, medical staff and friendly encouragement.

The finish site at Centennial Hall in the town of Lake Cowichan is always the climax with food, drink, showers and foot soaks/massages awaiting each and every Walker/Runner; even those who made the last leg of the trek in a van. Cheering crowds greet all the participants and on site there are food vendors and a variety of entertainment all day.

Commemorative prints by Michaela Davidson are presented with pride for completing the walk.

Please enjoy our website. To learn more about the Rest Stops and their locations, click on the red dots around the map of the Lake. If you have any questions or comments, contact us by electronic message - click here...

THE GREAT LAKE WALK IS ALWAYS HELD ON THE 3RD SATURDAY OF SEPTEMBER EACH YEAR.
